Woodward City Manager Alan Riffel announced Wednesday that through traffic on 34th street will be shut down starting Monday, August 13, as construction begins on a bridge crossing for Experiment Lake.
It is the first phase of the two-mile road project between Oklahoma Avenue and Hank’s Trail, which is scheduled to be completed in 12 months.
“This project is finally ready to kick off and will be a major improvement to our traffic flow for that side of town when it is finish,” Riffel said in a statement. “There will be some inconvenience during construction, but the result will be a fabulous new corridor that resolves troublesome congestion issues at certain times of the day.”
The City of Woodward has partnered with the Oklahoma Department of Transportation on the project. The Cummins Construction Company, of Enid, is the primary contractor for the project.
