Woodward’s “Home of the Brave Fest” to Feature New Activities, Prizes

Woodward is gearing up for its annual “Home of the Brave Fest” at Crystal Beach Park to celebrate the 4th of July Wednesday.

The day will feature a full list of activities, beginning with the Firecracker 5K at 7am.

Courtney Weese, Event Coordinator for the Woodward Convention and Visitor’s Bureau says a new event is “Patriotic Pooches”, which is being sponsored by Woof Pet Rescue.

“You can bring out your pooches, dress them in their best 4th of July attire, and there is a prize for that,” Weese said. The prize is being donated by Dogtown.

Weese also said that they have added more adult and kids games.

“In the past, people have noted that they would like to see some more games a little later on in the day, instead of just first thing in the morning,” Weese noted.

From 1:30 p.m.-3 p.m., those events will include a scavenger hunt, water balloon toss and sack races.

A 3-on-3 basketball tournament and a shootout competition will be held at the Thunder court. Weese said the winning team in the 3-on-3 competition will win $600. The shootout competition winner gets Thunder gear.

There will also be four Lumberjack Shows throughout the day (2:30 p.m., 4 p.m., 4:30 p.m., 6 p.m.).

K101 Radio will broadcast all-day long from Crystal Beach Park, beginning at 6am with the Morning Show.
